Depending on the area of travel, it can take hours to days for assistance to be available. That is why, in addition to general first-aid measures, the medicine-on-board courses primarily practice and teach how to deal with possible injuries on board, medical emergencies and illnesses. The focus of the course is on the special features of medical care at sea.

The aim of the course is for medical problems on board to be mastered until professional help is available.

Our 16-hour medicine on board basic course is the ideal first aid course for all those who want to learn first aid.

The focus of the course is on emergency situations and first aid on board, especially on short trips (daysailing, charter trips, short offshore trips lasting several days)
It is recognised for the acquisition of an IC (for the FB2 international certificate of competence)

The courses train the procedure from the first few minutes to the arrival of professional help and teach the various first aid measures for injuries and common medical problems at sea.
The medicine on board basic course is divided into a theoretical part and practical exercises.
Topics are:

  1. Accident prevention.
  2. Basics of first aid
  3. Dealing with life-threatening situations, resuscitation including using a defibrillator
  4. Stable lateral position
  5. First aid in case of swallowing, heavy bleeding
  6. Common medical problems at sea
  7. Measures for various illnesses (heart attack, stroke, ...)
  8. Treatment of injuries (wounds, bone and joint injuries)
