It is recognised for the acquisition of an IC (for the FB2 international certificate of competence)

The courses train the procedure from the first few minutes to the arrival of professional help and teach the various first aid measures for injuries and common medical problems at sea.
The medicine on board basic course is divided into a theoretical part and practical exercises.
Topics are:
- Accident prevention.
- Basics of first aid
- Dealing with life-threatening situations, resuscitation including using a defibrillator
- Stable lateral position
- First aid in case of swallowing, heavy bleeding
- Common medical problems at sea
- Measures for various illnesses (heart attack, stroke, ...)
- Treatment of injuries (wounds, bone and joint injuries)
